Meet The Composer Home

The New Music, New Donors initiative seeks to transform the landscape of new music commissioning through a reinvigoration and reinvention of individual arts patronage for the twenty-first century.

Meet The Composer is deeply committed to the initiative as a leading way to forge a deeper and more personal connection between music patrons, audience members and contemporary classical music.

Since the launch of New Music, New Donors in 2001, the initiative has driven…

· The securing of over $1 million in gifts from individuals in support of new commissioning projects.

· The design and implementation of those projects, involving more than two dozen composers and a similar number of individual patrons.
Magnum Opus is one of the flagship examples of what great things can be achieved for both composers and patrons through the initiative.

· The preparation and circulation of publications that present the rewards of individual commissioning in clear and compelling terms, most notably the
Individuals Guide to Commissioning Music.

· The garnering of considerable national and regional press coverage introducing the concept of individual commissioning, including feature articles in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The San Francisco Chronicle and others.

Many new projects and activities are in the works. Want to know more? Please contact:
