In September 2008, the second round of Ford Made in America began with the premiere of Pulitzer Prize-winning composer Joseph Schwantner’s new work Chasing Light... After receiving its world premiere by the Reno Chamber Orchestra in Reno, Nevada, Chasing Light... will be performed by 60 orchestras representing all 50 states over the course of the 2008–2009 and 2009–2010 concert seasons.

Meet The Composer announces the 2008 projects of Commissioning Music/USA. America’s preeminent commissioning organization awards $180,000 for the creation of 15 new works. Classical, jazz, and theater composers collaborate with choreographers, filmmakers, actors, puppeteers and visual artists to develop eclectic and far-reaching performance works
